Therefore, due to the particularity of engine work, there are more requirements for oil.

Gear oil is mainly anti-wear, lubricating

Gear oil is used in differentials and gearboxes. These places are mainly gear meshing to transmit power, and they are all located at the end of the transmission system, requiring deceleration and torque increase, so the gear transmission load is heavy, and more viscous oil is required to ensure contact. There is still lubricating oil on the surface when it is bitten vigorously.

The gear oil has a high viscosity, which ensures that the oil film on the contact surface will not be damaged under heavy load. And some vehicle gear oils are also added with graphite. The main component of the pencil lead we use is graphite. Graphite is also a lubricant. Adding it to the gear oil can increase the wear resistance. In order to increase the anti-wear gear oil is often added with other substances, so most of the gear oil smells a pungent odor.

Gear oil and engine oil have completely different properties and functions, so they cannot be mixed. However, it is usually better to use gear oil to lubricate the chain than oil.
